Party Time for A!

We officially celebrated Adrienne's birthday (which is the 30th) on Saturday the 28th. Grandpa Bennie and Grandma Helen were here, along with the girls' buddies, Ella and Chloe. Adrienne is a FROZEN lover, so we decided on an Olaf in summer theme. If you haven't seen the movie (you should), Olaf is a snowman who longs to experience summer. He's just sure he'd love hanging out on the beach getting a tan...little does he know what would occur. Anyway, it was a fun theme considering the summer birthday over here, and my intentions were for an afternoon of outdoor water play. The threat of storms (and bad looking radar) caused a shift in that plan, but the weather actually held out and we did get to have most of the party outdoors. Adrienne was delighted with her celebration and enjoyed getting to call the shots (you can imagine her sister didn't love that part). The girls were so good and I really just enjoyed watching them together and playing paparazzi....800 photos later, here are my favorites and the highlights.

The cake! I was pretty proud of this. I made the Olaf and beach ball out of gum paste. The 'sand' was graham cracker crumbs. The huge bummer here is that as I went to get some leftovers that night, the box tore and this all landed in a heap on the floor! I cried over that sad sight. Just thankful this happened AFTER the party.

This is where things got a bit dicey with Jillian. It's tough to be the big sister and have your little sister rule the day. She wasn't happy about the play selections.

It cracked me up to see the Olaf balloon peeking out of the house at us. Grandpa Bennie is on the deck, and you can see Grandma Helen in the house in a chair by the window as well.

My pictures got out of order here somehow, but Matt pulled a little prank before the real cake. He bought some Limburger cheese (VERY stinky cheese) in WI last week and he kept telling Adrienne he was going to bake her cake. So, he pulled out a slice, lit a candle and presented it to her. Check the expressions in the next few photos. Priceless.
