Happy Birthday, Grandma Helen

Grandpa Bennie and Great Grandma Helen came to visit for a few days. Grandma Helen celebrated her 87th birthday while she was here, so these party-loving girls agreed we needed to do it up right. We picked Jillian up from camp and then took Grandma Helen out to our favorite lunch spot (Pi), to grab ice cream at our favorite spot (Flapdoodles), and then she came to watch both girls at swimming lessons. When we arrived home, Matt took Grandpa Bennie and Grandma Helen on a tour of Mayo, so we got to work whipping up our surprise celebration.
Dressed for a party, obligatory crowns are on. I gave the girls free reign with the streamers, you can see the work on the windows on the right in the pic.

We set the table with a princess theme.

After the great "surprise!!!" shouting, we took a picture with the queen herself.

After dinner, ready for presents

Jillian carefully wrote and decorated place cards. Mine had roses.

Matt's had cupcakes. She specifically asked me to photograph this because in her words, "these are the best cupcakes I've ever drawn"

I love the next series of pics. Check out Jillian's face of excitement as Helen opens her gift.

A special necklace with J and A's initials

Letting A try it on

Jillian is reading her homemade card to Grandma Helen

Love this of A. She was told to leave the bucket alone. Check that look on her face and her sneaky little hand.

Jillian gave Helen a bracelet she had made

Sweetness

Ice cream cake! Time to sing!

We did not have 87 candles, but we did have 8 star candles and 7 polka dot candles

She did it!

Pre-bedtime stories. Love this precious pic.

Pretty special to get to know and love a great grandma!

Daddy and Grandpa Bennie had a project of their own going during the visit--making a kubb yard game

Signing their work

Nice job, boys!
