Signs of Spring

The calendar says it's been Spring for over a month now, but as is typical, it does not feel that way in MN. Most people have the winter blues, but I really get them in the spring. What I long for in March, April, and May, never really arrives. And then it is June, where is feels like spring but is supposed to be summer. We really have 6 weeks of seasonally appropriate weather in my book--July through mid-August. Ack. Anyway, this week, however, things have been looking up (this will be short-lived, though. The ten day forecast is bleak). Yesterday morning, the sun was shining and the weatherman promised we'd see at least 60 degrees. My friend, Jess, called to say that Ella wanted a playdate with Jillian, and we quickly made plans for a park afternoon with the little ladies (plus Ella and Chloe's baby brother, Jack). The girls were delighted to be together and tested the safety limits on all playground equipment much to their mothers' chagrin. It just felt right to follow our play with a trip to Flapdoodles for some ice cream. These are the days good moods are made of.

A table of chatty, chatty girls

Good to the last drop. Every time.

Had to have one final conversation outside the ice cream shop

A little Saturday morning outdoor play while Daddy aerated the lawn. It was sunny and warm-ish (about 50), but the wind was brutal so they needed to find rest and shelter for a few minutes. Did you know Rochester is technically more windy than Chicago? The wind ruins many, many promising days around here. Sigh.

These kids are cute though, right? Have I mentioned they are ornery little stinkers?
